Mayor Swears In Incumbent Trustees

Plus, the Village needs to fill open spot on Police and Fire Commission, and police chief warns that car break-ins are on the rise.

We took a look at business conducted by the Village Board at Monday's meeting. 

Trustees sworn in: Mayor Jim Holland swore in incumbent trustees Cynthia Heath and Mike Stevens at Tuesday's meeting for their new terms on the Village board. Kevin Egan, the third incumbent who ran unopposed in the April 5 election, was unable to attend and will be sworn in at the May 16 meeting. 

During his time for comments, Stevens said it is a "privilege and honor to serve on the board." Heath thanked voters for allowing her "the honor of serving you for the next four years."

Police and Fire Commission accepting applications: The Village is looking for a new member for its Police and Fire Commission after Ken Lindberg recently resigned because he's moving. Lindberg only served a year of a three-year term.

Although officials are considering applications on file from its recent call for commission members, they also are welcoming additional applications through Wednesday, May 11. An application can be found on the Village's website.

Police chief reports increased car break-ins: Frankfort Police Chief John Burica warned that as the weather gets warmer, crime increases. In Frankfort, that manifests itself in the form of car break-ins. In recent cases, thieves have chosen cars with valuable items, such as purses and laptops, visible on the seat or the floor.

Brush pickup: Village crews are rotating through Frankfort neighborhoods for tree and brush waste. For whole trees or other bulky brush waste requiring prompt pickup, call the Village administration office at 815-469-2177.
