Liquor Amendment Gives More Control to Board Over Licenses

Plus, appointments to 2011-12 committees are announced.

We took a look at other business conducted by the Village Board at Monday's meeting. Go  for coverage of the board's approval of a new pre-owned merchandise ordinance.

The request: A liquor ordinance amendment that would allow the termination of a liquor license and reduce the licenses available by one in a given classification.

What it means: This amendment stops liquor licenses from being automatically transferred to the new owner of a business after the previous business either closes or switches owners. Under this amendment, the license is terminated, not transferred, in those cases, and a business owner needs to get board approval for a new liquor license.
