Frankfort Uses Curb Appeal to Attract Economic Development

The seeds of economic development are rooted in landscape plans in Frankfort.

Attracting economic development is not merely about numbers. In Frankfort, the Community Services Committee is hoping to plant the seeds of development by building in curb appeal.

An extra effort is being made in downtown Frankfort to improve landscape beds.

Mayor Jim Holland and the Village Board approved a project to create examples of new landscaping. These demonstration gardens are scheduled to be completed in the next few weeks.

The Village Board asks residents, downtown business owners and downtown property owners to comment on the examples of improvements.

"Frankfort’s Public Works Department has been busy throughout the spring cleaning existing landscape areas and trimming trees in the downtown historic district. This work will continue throughout the summer," said Mary Canino, community relations director.

“Our downtown historic district is a focal point of our community.  These improvements will add to the overall enjoyment of the downtown for residents, visitors and businesses,” said Holland.
