Longtime Frankfort resident Nella Piccolin was recently selected by the Frankfort Township trustees as the new township clerk, according to a media release from the township.
Piccolin was sworn in during the Frankfort town board meeting on Monday, said the release.
“Nella has been active in our community for many years,” said Frankfort Township Supervisor Jim Moustis in the release. “She’s been a Frankfort Township trustee and a member of the Will County Board. She puts the people first, and that is what we look for in township government.”
According to the release, Piccolin has lived in Frankfort for 36 years. She was also the first woman to serve as a Frankfort Township trustee.
Former clerk Marguerite McDermed recently won a seat on the Will County Board representing District 12. Because it is illegal for a county board member to also serve as a township clerk, Piccolin will replace McDermed, who resigned during the Monday meeting, said the release.
According to the release, the clerk is the official record keeper for the township, as well as the local authority during elections.
Piccolin will hold the position for six months, until McDermed’s term as township clerk expires in April, said the release.
