Frankfort's Route 30 Updates: Traffic Signals at Locust Street

One lane open in each direction on Route 30 between Route 45 and Harlem Avenue.

The Route 30 construction project from Frankfort through Mokena and New Lenox continues. The road-widening venture demands careful attention on the part of the motorists, said Rob Piscia, Frankfort's assistant village administrator.

West Contract - Wolf Road to Route 45

  •  One lane open in each direction
  •  Curb and median work still needs to be completed
  •  Crews will be working on traffic signals at Locust Street this week
  • Noise-walls are being installed from Elm to Cedar.

Speed limits are set at 35 mph

  • Elm Street intersection is OPEN.
  • Hackberry intersection is CLOSED for completion of work.

Piscia cautions motorist to pay particular attention while traveling on Route 30 between Route 45 and Harlem Avenue. Expect changes in lane configurations.

East Contract—Route 45 to Harlem Avenue

  • One lane open in each direction
  • Curb and median work still need to be completed.
  • Landscape work in the medians is underway this week.
  • Pfeiffer Road intersection is OPEN.

Harlem Avenue intersection is OPEN. There are is no longer access from northbound Harlem Avenue to the Walgreen’s driveway. IDOT contractors are aware of traffic signal timing problems, corrections should be forthcoming.

All project phases are dependent on weather conditions for completion.

Miscellaneous

The Village of Frankfort is anticipating the installation of a new right turn lane, southbound Route 45 for westbound Route 30. The work on underground utilities has begun outside of the state right of way. "We will notify residents as the work progresses. Please pay attention to signage for possible lane closures."
