Frankfort Biz Racks Up Highest Tollway Fines in State
The Illinois Tollway has released a list of its "Super Scofflaws," those who owe more than $1,000 in tolls.
A Frankfort transportation company tops a recently released list of Illinois' biggest toll violators.
The Illinois Tollway released its "Super Scofflaw" list of 157 businesses that have skipped out on paying more than $3.6 million is overdue tolls.
The state agency started releasing the list after Gov. Pat Quinn signed Senate Bill 1214 on Tuesday, which allows for the publishing of names of toll violators that owe more than $1,000. Eight companies alone owe more than $100,000 each.
Landa Transport, a carrier company based in Frankfort, holds the top spot, owing the state $214,859.10.

Oak Forest-based Magna Electric Supply broke into the top 20, coming in No. 16 with $62,797.25 in fines.
Three business from both Orland Park and Chicago Heights, along with companies from several other local communities, also made the list:

Publishing the list is part of a crackdown on those who skip on paying the tolls and an effort to collect the lost revenue, according to the Illinois Tollway's website. Each violator on the list had been contacted at least nine times and was given opportunities to pay the state.
Companies on the list should contact the collection agency through the phone numbers provided on overdue notices.
