Former Governor Under House Arrest Spotted at Francesca's Fortunato

George Ryan left his house in Kankakee on Sunday to dine out in Frankfort.

Former Illinois Governor George Ryan was seen Sunday dining at Francesca's Fortunato in downtown Frankfort, according to a report from WLS-TV.

The former governor is currently under house arrest serving a corruption sentence. Ryan’s home is located 31 miles from Frankfort, in Kankakee.

Ryan’s attorney, former Governor James Thompson, told WLS-TV that Ryan was taking advantage of a probation department rule allowing low-risk prisoners to visit public places on weekends. However, Kristine Phillips, a chief probation officer for the northern district of Illinois, said that such arrangements can only be made on a prisoner-to-prisoner basis.
