Will/Grundy Career Connects Program Launches at JJC

Joliet Junior College will host a launch event April 29 for Career Connects Will and Grundy, a new online program that connects students and job seekers to occupations and job opportunities that local businesses offer.
 
“This is an innovative online system that will bring together education and industry to address our community’s future workforce development needs,” Kelly Lapetino, JJC workforce skills manager, said.

A launch event for the program will be held Friday, April 29, at the JJC Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet, from 8-9:30 a.m. Continental breakfast will be served.

  • Links job seekers and students to careers they are interested in with local companies through online career discussion boards.
  • Takes education out of the classroom by giving students the opportunity to participate in work-based career activities, i.e., company tours, job shadowing, summer internships, mentors.
  • Allows local businesses the opportunity to attract top talent for their organizations.
  • In addition to helping business and industry play an active role in connecting with their future workforce, Career Connects also allows students and job seekers to see that the Will and Grundy region is a great place to live and work.
  • Participation in the program is free.

 The college has partnered with the Career Cruising Network to bring the program to Will and Grundy Counties.
