Burger, Spa Chains Propose New Locations in Frankfort

Meatheads Burger & Fries, Massage Envy and indoor sports facility Roma Sports Club will go before the Village Plan Commission to discuss opening spots in the village.

, the will consider the special use requests of three businesses hoping to locate to the village.

Here's a look at the companies trying to become corporate citizens in Frankfort with some background on what they need to make that happen:

Meatheads Burgers & Fries: The Bloomington-based hamburger chain is asking for a carry-out restaurant and outdoor seating permit for a new location in the Prairie Crossings Shopping Center at 11143 W. Lincoln Hwy.

The village and Meatheads have been in talks to come to Frankfort for about a year, said Planning Supervisor Zach Brown. The burger restaurant would be a good fit in the shopping center, complementing and , Brown added.

Massage Envy: The massage and spa chain, with 765 locations in 42 states, is also considering opening an outlet at the Prairie Crossings Shopping. But in order to put a full-service massage spa at 11057 and 11061 W. Lincoln Hwy., Massage Envy needs a special operating permit, because businesses of that type need approval by the Village Board to open in Frankfort, Brown said, adding the company approached the village about a few months ago.

Roma Sports Club: The owners proposing to open this new indoor sports facility at 9325 Gulfstream Road will be taking advantage the available space in some the business suites south of Laraway Road. Roma Sports Club will provide a training area for baseball, softball and indoor soccer teams, a service that remains lucrative in the Lincoln-Way area thanks to the popularity and amount of organized sports teams locally, Brown said.

The Frankfort Plan Commission will discuss these businesses at its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14.
