'Anything' Could Happen as Senate Reconvenes, McCarthy Says

Lawmakers will vote to reauthorize road construction program and cut their own pay again, Illinois Statehouse News reports.

State senators return to Springfield Wednesday, and south suburban State Rep. Kevin McCarthy says "anything could happen."

McCarthy (D-Orland Park) told Illinois Statehouse News that he expects lawmakers to vote on a few lingering issues, among them:

Lawmakers will reauthorize Illinois’ $31 billion construction plan. Gov. Pat Quinn threatened a halt to road construction — which would have delayed the U.S. 30 widening project — because the Senate tried to tie the road, bridge and school construction to $430 million in new spending on education and human services.
