Why are you seeking office?

There are many changes being made in education today, and I have a vested interest in our schools and community. I have a realistic preview of the challenges faced by students, parents and educators, and I believe I can actively participate in shaping future policy decisions discussed by the Board of Education.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

My past work experience as an educator and recent experience leading the District 157-C Education Foundation make me uniquely qualified to become a Board of Education member. My classroom experience as an educator provides me with the realistic challenges facing students and teachers. In addition to my experience as an educator, I served as the former President of the 157-C Education Foundation. During this time my colleagues and I worked closely with administrators, educators and business owners in the district. Between 2007 and 2012 we helped raise over $200,000.

In you opinion, what are the primary challenges facing this district?

As previously stated, there are many challenges in our district. Safety, curriculum and providing our educators with the tools and support to grow their craft are of great importance. Managing these issues and being fiscally responsible is the objective.

How will you address those challenges?

I plan to ask the questions that are needed to continue to make our schools great. I will put in the time and effort needed to provide the best for our children and citizens of Frankfort. I also plan on working together with other Board of Education members as a team to continue to see our schools through all the challenges that are presented.

If elected, what will be your philosophy as a board member?

My philosophy is to continue the high standard of academic achievement for all our children of District 157-C. Enhancing the classroom curriculum, technology and developing confident learners and remaining fiscally responsible is my vision. Aiding in the school's mission and strategic plan that is set forth will be my focus.
