Why are you seeking office?

I believe the library is part of the foundation of our community. It is a place of information, both digital and traditional. But, it is also a place to gather with others to learn, meet, work and socialize. Currently we are in the midst of a digital transformation. As a current FPLD board member I have worked with my colleagues to balance our adoption and utilization of new technology while providing relevent programs and usable space for our community. I hope to continue to work passionately with my colleagues to keep our library as a place of relevance within our community.

What sets you apart from the other candidates?

I have been an active member of the Frankfort community for over 16 years. As I raise my four children here I am vested in this community. As a current member of the FPLD board and as treasurer I have worked with my colleagues to reduce the tax levy for the last two years. With the positive balance in the general fund I look forward to work on updating the physical space of the library interially.

If elected, what changes would you work toward within the library district?

What are the strengths of this library district?

The FPLD is a wonderful repository of information. However, its greatest strength lies in the talented, educated and creative librarians and staff who continue to act as a resource and guide for patrons and students. A professional with a personal touch is always available to help. The librarians and staff provide wonderful educational programs and bring downtown quality programming to adults and children. The staff continue to adapt and evolve to adopt new technologies and make them available to our community.

What areas of the district are most in need of improvement?

We need to continue to work on our physical space. As less space will be required in the future for traditional materials our library will continue to grow as a space for people to gather, work, attend programs, meetings and classes and socialize. We need to provide these resources in a fiscally responsible manner.
