2 More Arrests Made in Home Invasion Shooting Chase: Police

One man still remains wanted for an incident where a man was shot inside his Orland Park home, then chased after the assailants who continued shooting at him while driving away.

Within the past two weeks, authorities have arrested two of four men accused of breaking into an Orland Park house and shooting a man, and firing at him on open roads as he chased them down.

On May 18, two men armed with handguns broke into a house in the 10900 block of Antelope Lane and shot the then 30-year-old homeowner at least three times. They broke in through the garage, demanded money and jewelry, and shot the man before fleeing in a silver PT Cruiser.

The shooting victim then got into his own vehicle and followed the PT Cruiser, when the shooters continued firing at him while out on open roads, police said at the time. The shooting victim lost track of them near I80, and pulled over as he was bleeding from his wounds, though he was alert when emergency personnel found him.

Warren L. Hunter, 31, of the 200 block of Tyler Street in Gary, Indiana, had a $350,000 warrant out for his arrest following the incident. Police said in May that they believed he shot at the victim inside his house and while out on the road.

Hunter turned himself in on Aug. 5 for violating conditions of unrelated federal drug and gun charges, and was serving a sentence in September when he was transferred to the Lake County Jail in Indiana, according to a release from the Orland Park Police Department. He refused to sign an extradition waiver and remained in the Indiana jail until he was taken back to Illinois on Jan. 13, and charged with attempted first-degree murder. Bail was set the following day at $5 million, police said.

Brad L. Kemp, 27, of the 2200 block of Union Street in Lake Station, Ind., was arrested on Jan. 16 in Lake Station, one day after a home invasion warrant was issued for his arrest with $1 million bail, according to police.

Kemp was accused of firing at the shooting victim while inside his home, according to Orland Park Police Sgt. Scott Malmborg. Kemp waived extradition, and was taken back to Illinois on Tuesday, where he was charged with attempted first-degree murder, police said.

One suspect still remains at large, and is wanted in a recent Gary, Indiana armed robbery. Jeremy M. Watson, 27, of the 200 block of Roosevelt Street, has warrants out for the armed robbery that happened on Jan. 9, and for the home invasion with a $2 million bail.

Watson was described as:

  • 5 feet 10 inches
  • 210 pounds
  • black hair
  • brown eyes

Watson should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Anyone with information on Watson should call the Orland Park Police Department at 708-349-4111.
