Three Injured in Two-Car Accident on Sauk Trail

The accident happened after one car cut off another near the intersection of Sauk Trail and Andrews Way, a village fire department official said.

Three people were injured in a two-car accident Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Sauk Trail and Andrews Way, a official said.

The three people—the driver and two passengers of one of the cars—were brought to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Olympia Fields, said Battalion Chief Sean Fierce, adding he didn't know their conditions or where they were from. The three were still in the car when rescue crews arrived around 3 p.m. but conscious, Fierce said. Because of the damage to the car, firefighters needed to cut away a car door to remove one passenger, he said.

The driver of the other car refused medical attention at the scene, Fierce said.

The accident happened when one car cut in front of the other at the intersection, and it caused Sauk Trail to be closed for about 15 minutes, Fierce said. It took crews about a half hour to clear the road, he added.
