President Charged With Stealing More Than $28K From Homeowners Association

Kristin Simon, of Frankfort, turned herself in to police April 6 on a warrant for two counts of felony theft, according to police reports.

The president of Shimmering View Homeowners Association faces felony theft charges for stealing more than $28,000 from the organization, according to police reports.

Kristin Simon, 38, of the 20100 block of South Brendan Street, turned herself in to on Friday, April 6, on a warrant for two counts of felony theft. She was released on bond, and her next court date is May 7.

Police began investigating Simon in January after Shimmering View HOA board members reported a discrepancy in the organization's account, which Simon had control over, said Cmdr. Kevin Keegan.

Investigators determined that Simon had taken more than $28,000 from the association by recording false entries and then funneling the money into her own account, Keegan said.

The evidence against Simon was brought to a grand jury Feb. 1, and the warrant was drafted April 5, Keegan said. Simon was contacted by police and turned herself in April 6, he added.

Along with being president of the Shimmering View HOA, Simon also is a commissioner for the Frankfort Girls Softball organization. Reached out of town on vacation, FGS board President Keith Revak said Friday he had no comment about the charges and was waiting to talk with Simon to discuss the situation.
