Police: Two Indiana Men Try to Steal Rims, Tires From Dealership

Frankfort officers arrest two Hammond men after a security guard at Phillips Chevrolet finds burglary tools at the dealership, official says.

Two Indiana men arrested early Monday morning are accused of trying to steal tires and rims from a village car dealership, according to reports.

Brendan May, 35, and Brandon Stokes, 37, both of Hammond, Ind., were charged with felony burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal trespass and knowing damage to property more than $100,000. Stokes also was charged with obstruction of justice and trying to destroy evidence.

A security guard at Phillips Chevrolet in the 9700 block of West Lincoln Highway discovered burglary tools—a floor jack, tire irons and landscaping bricks—around 2:35 a.m. Monday and called police, said Cmdr. Kevin Keegan. Officers created a perimeter around the dealership and saw two men looking through vehicles, he added.
