Police Release Warning About 'Ruse Burglaries'

Frankfort residents should be aware of scam that lures homeowners away from their residences.

Frankfort residents are being warned to be on the lookout for "ruse burglaries," thefts where victims are led outside their homes while others burglarize the residence, according to a police release.

On July 6, Frankfort Police responded to a call in the area of U.S. Route 30 and Hunter Woods Drive that fit the description of a ruse burglary. Two men driving a gray mini-van with tinted windows were identified. One of the men posed as a new neighbor.

Common scams used in this type of burglary include posing as a utility/village worker or posing as someone who recently moved into the area, the release stated.
