Police: Chicago Teen Pulled Over With Marijuana and Automatic Weapon

A traffic stop of two teenagers uncovered 24 grams of marijuana and a 25-caliber gun, according to reports.

Officers arrested a Chicago teen with 24 grams of individually packaged marijuana and an automatic weapon after a traffic stop April 9, according to Frankfort police reports.

Torri Stewart, 17, was charged with felonly aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, felony manufacturing - delivery of marijuana, aggravated unlawful use of a vehicle, possession of marijuana, armed violence and traffic violations, Frankfort Police Cmdr. Kevin Keegan said.

Meanwhile, police said a passenger in Stewart's car—Jonathan C. Allen, 18, of Chicago—was charged with underage consumption of alcohol.

An officer stopped Stewart's car at the corner of LaPorte and LaGrange roads, according to reports. As he approached the car, the officer could smell marijuana and saw the Stewart and Allen reach under the seats of the vehicle, Keegan said. 

The officer said he searched Stewart and found 24 grams of marijuana. After searching the car, the officer found a 25-caliber automatic gun that was loaded and hidden underneath the seat in the immediate reach of the driver, Keegan said. Stewart and Allen both denied any knowledge about the gun, according to Keegan.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office charged Stewart as an adult, and he was transferred to Will County Jail.
