Tuesday, Feb. 22

Matteson Man Charged for Driving, Drug Offenses

Myron J. Smith, 26, of the 6200 block of Vincent Lane in Matteson, was charged with possession of marijuana and driving without insurance after being pulled over between Harlem Avenue and Lincoln Highway.

Monday, Feb. 21

DUI Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charge

Corey J. Perritano, 22, of the 19600 block of Sycamore Street in Mokena, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, driving without headlights, failure to signal and driving under the influence after being pulled over between South 80th and North avenues. When a Frankfort police officer confronted him after the stop, Perritano admitted to smoking marijuana 45 minutes earlier. The officer had the car towed, and while doing an inventory he found less than a gram of marijuana as well as less than a gram of a white, powdery substance that was later field tested as cocaine. Perritano was booked into Will County Jail and has since been released.

Sunday, Feb. 20

Tinley Park Man Charged With DUI, Speeding

Eric Gustafson, 35, of the 17400 block of West 71st Court in Tinley Park, was charged with speeding, driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after a traffic stop between 84th Avenue and Lincoln Highway. 

Wednesday, Feb. 16

Joliet Man Charged Over Switchblade

Bernardo Barajas, 40, of the 200 block of South Hebbard Street in Joliet, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after a traffic stop between 80th Avenue and U.S. Route 30. A Frankfort police officer did a search and pat down of Barajas after pulling him over and found a switchblade knife, which is illegal.

Frankfort Woman Cries Foul Over Cell Phone Bill

A Frankfort resident living in the 8200 block of West Rosebury Drive called the Will County Sheriff's Office to report suspicious activity on her cell phone bill. She said her bill was more than $400 higher than usual, and the numbers on the bill tracked back to Mexico with only Spanish-speaking people answering when she called them. The victim claimed that a cleaning service employee might be responsible for stealing her cell phone and making the calls. The resident also claimed a piece of jewelry also was missing from her house.
