Police Blotter: Chicago Woman Caught With Phony Credit Cards

Chicago Woman Charged With ID Theft, Forgery
Dandria N. Brewer, 28, of the 800 block of East 38th Street in Chicago, was charged with felony forgery and felony identity theft for trying to use phony credit cards at on LaGrange Road, said Cmdr. Kevin Keegan. Brewer A bank employee called police at around 4:05 p.m. after Brewer tried to withdraw $4,800 from a credit card, Keegan said. Brewer told officers that her accountant gave her the card so she could access her tax refund, Keegan said. When officers asked her more questions about the card, Brewer refused to answer them and was taken into custody where officers found more Visa debit credit cards in her possession, Keegan added. Officers then contacted various banks and found the numbers were connected to the accounts of victims in other states, Keegan said. Brewer was booked in to Will County Jail and released on bail.

Frankfort Man Charged After Two Run-Ins With Police
Kevin R. Swanson, 19, of the 9000 block of Charrington Drive, was charged with driving with a suspended license and misdemeanor resisting a peace officer after an incident around 2:45 p.m. at Swanson's residence. Less than two hours later, Swanson was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident in the 20600 block of Lincoln Highway. He was released on bond, and his court date for all offenses is June 1.

Cracked Windshield Leads to Traffic Charges for Aurora Man
Salvador Rojas, 26, of the 1000 block of South Union Street in Aurora, was charged with driving with a suspended license, driving with a cracked windshield and violation of child restraint laws after a traffic stop near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and Sauk Trail. Rojas was released on bond, and his court date is May 4.

Joliet Man Faces Alcohol, Traffic Charges
Juan Carlos Lopez, 26, of the 1300 block of North Center Street in Joliet, was charged with driving with a suspended license, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving without insurance after a traffic stop in the 21000 block of LaGrange Road. Lopez was released on bond, and his court date is May 3.
