Pickup Truck Catches Fire at LaGrange Road Gas Station

No one was injured as firefighters put out the blaze in 15 minutes.

A pickup truck caught fire Wednesday afternoon at a LaGrange Road gas station, according to a Frankfort Fire Protection District report.

The fire department received a call around 1:15 p.m. that a diesel truck was on fire at the Speedway at 23310 S. LaGrange Road. Firefighters arrived to find the engine compartment of a pickup truck on fire, the report stated. The vehicle was not parked near the station's fuel pumps.

Fire crews put out the blaze in about 15 minutes, and no one was injured, according to the report.

"We normally send a single engine company for car fires, but when the call comes in as a diesel truck on fire at a gas station, our first thought was a large 8,000 gallon tanker truck was off loading and caught on fire, so we increased the response to two engines, one tower ladder and a battalion chief," said Assistant Chief Bob Wilson in an e-mail.

After the fire was put out, the scene was turned over to the Frankfort Police Department. The cause of the fire had not been determined, according to the report.
