I wish I knew their names

"I wish I knew their names, but I was very grateful and appreciative of the 2 officers who came to my aid last January when my car broken down on one of our rural roads. It was one of that sub-zero, wind-chill days before 6 a.m. The transmission on my jeep went, and I was stuck waiting for the tow truck. A couple police officers stopped to make sure I was ok.

"The second one even helped me get my car more into a safer spot in a nearby parking lot. He even came back a second time, worried my car wasn't keeping me warm enough and offered to call a second towing company. Being on the rural farm roads, even with my cell phone, I was nervous being stranded. But when they kept driving by to check on me, my anxiety just went away.

"May not have seemed like a big deal to them, but I really appreciated it!!! So Thank You!!"

Gretchen Kron Dust wrote about a Frankfort Police Officer who was watching out for a child's best interest.

In the child's best interest

"I was driving home from leaving a friend's house and my 6 year old son was so devastated. He was sad that we left, overtired and hard on himself about not keeping it together. I pulled over to talk to him and give him a hug since he was getting so worked up. It was impossible to talk him off the ledge.

"An officer pulled up behind us. He asked if we were ok and gently placed himself in between me and my son. He asked if he was ok, where he lived and who I was...not in a threatening way.

"My son explained he was embarrassed that he ran at the mall and didn't want to go home just yet. The officer was concerned, if in this case, there was abuse or even kidnapping. He never let that on to the little guy and didn't make him scared.

"I wasn't offended at all. Hurt that my son was sad but so proud to know that if need be, maybe another child that was possibly getting abused or taken against their will would have a fighting chance. Thanks to that officer who ever it was for making an extra effort!"
