Frankfort Police Warn of Prowlers Lurking Around Town

The Frankfort Police Department sent out a warning to residents about break-ins over the last few weeks.

The Frankfort Police Department warned residents to watch out for prowlers and said homes have recently been broken into.

Subscribers to the department's Nixle alert service received the following message:

"The Frankfort Police Department has received reports of residential break-ins in the past few weeks. We want to remind our residents to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious circumstances to the police immediately. This may include suspicious persons and vehicles. Also, be wary of solicitors and remember that all solicitors must be registered with the Village of Frankfort."

The police have only acknowledged only one incident involving a would-be housebreaker. Joelle Aranda, 19, of 409 W. Rockwell Ave. in Harvey was charged with attempted burglary and criminal damage to property in connection with an alleged Nov. 7 caper.

An unidentified 16-year-old from Harvey was arrested along with Aranda but was charged only with possession of cannabis and criminal damage to property.

Aranda allegedly tried to break into homes on the south end of the village.
