Frankfort Police Bag Alleged Would-Be Burglar

The police apprehended a Harvey man and charged him with attempted burglary.

The Frankfort police reportedly captured a Harvey man who had been trying to break into homes on the south end of the village.

Joelle Aranda, 19, of 409 W. Rockwell Ave. was charged with attempted burglary and criminal damage to property in connection with the alleged Nov. 7 caper.

A 16-year-old from Harvey was arrested along with Aranda. The younger teen was charged with possession of cannabis and criminal damage to property.

The police started searching for Aranda and the other teen after getting a call about a suspicious vehicle and a report of two people lurking around a backyard on Sun River Drive, said Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keegan.

A homeowner arrived while police were at the scene. The man went inside his house and confirmed the interior was undisturbed but noticed pry marks on the back door, Keegan said.

Shortly after, a resident of Folkestone Way alerted police to a pair of men walking around. An officer then spotted the younger teen on Ledgestone Way, stopped him and questioned him.

The 16-year-old and Aranda had split up and were attempting to rendezvous when the police caught them, Keegan said.

Aranda was booked into the Will County jail.
