Frankfort Firefighters Douse Blaze in Prestwick

Frankfort Fire Protection District doused a blaze called in at 1:18 a.m. today in the Prestwick subdivision. No injuries were reported. 

Four alerts went out between 1:32 a.m. and 1:46 a.m.

Firefighters were still on the scene at 2:30 a.m. after dousing a blaze at 1011 Prestwick Drive. According to Battalion Chief Nick Peters, the call came in shortly before 1:30 a.m. The fire started in a bedroom and was contained. Only one or two rooms were damaged by a blaze, the cause of which is under investigation. 

Peters said the caller said it was possible that as many as three occuopants were in the home. However, when the trucks arrived, he said, it was discovered that one man was home at the time of the blaze.

"He was outside when we got here." 

Damage was estimated at $20,000, he said.   

Firefighters from Richton Park and Matteson responded to the call as well.
