Frankfort Cops Hunting Home Invader: Police

One man is in custody and a second is on the run in connection with an August home invasion on Prestwick Drive.

The Frankfort police are searching for an Indiana man in connection with an August home invasion on Prestwick Drive.

George Avros, 22, of Whiting faces class X felony charges for allegedly menacing a Frankfort couple after barging into their house with two other men.

One of those two other men, 21-year-old Brandon Villa of Crown Point, IN, is already in custody at the Lake County, IN, jail. He was arrested in connection with an unrelated incident in Hammond, IN, said Frankfort Deputy Police Chief Kevin Keegan.

A third man remains unidentified and at large.

Avros, Villa and the third man entered the Frankfort couple's possibly unlocked house about 5:30 a.m. Aug. 28, police said. Two of the men reportedly covered their faces with bandannas. One of the men was armed with a rifle and another with a knife, police said.

The bandits absconded with property and drove off in a Pontiac Grand Am that was later linked to Avros, police said.

The day after the home invasion, Villa was allegedly caught behind the River Oaks Mall in Calumet City trying to sell the stolen property.

Anyone with information on Avros' whereabouts or the identity of the third man is urged to call the Frankfort police at 815-469-9435.
