Cops Hope 'No Solicitation' Stickers Will Curb Ruse Burglaries

Free stickers available to Frankfort residents.

In an effort to discourage people posing as solicitors to gain entry into residents' homes, Frankfort police will offer free "no solicitation" stickers to residents.

"The Frankfort police department has become aware that offenders sometimes use solicitation as a way to commit 'ruse burglaries' or as a way to find out if a homeowner is home," according to a release from the village. "With this 'No Solicitation' sign, it clearly tells those soliciting that they are not interested.  Residents have a choice, of course, and if they choose not to post the sign then solicitors are welcome to come to their home."

Residents are reminded that all solicitors must first register with the police department, and receive a permit to solicit. Residents can ask for proof of permit if a solicitor comes to the door.
