Chicago Man Jailed in Joliet Makes False Claim About Bomb Planted at Matteson Police Department: Cops
The Chicago man had already been charged with battering a woman and trying to smuggle a handcuff key into the Will County jail.
A Chicago man jailed in Joliet caught a new case when he allegedly spun a tall tail about a bomb hidden somewhere at the Matteson Police Department.
Michael Walton, 33, of 6571 S. Ridgeland Ave. was charged with felony disorderly conduct for allegedly fibbing about the bomb planted in the Matteson station house.
Walton was already locked up for allegedly battering a woman named Khadijah Bradford in February. He was hit with additional charges when he allegedly attempted to smuggle a handcuff key into the Will County jail while being taken into custody.
Things only got worse for Walton from there.
The day after he was locked up, Walton allegedly told a Will County correctional officer a bomb had been hidden at the Matteson police station. The guard reportedly alerted his supervisor and the supervisor had Walton put pen to paper and write out his claim.
The Matteson police were notified but the bomb was not located. An official said the bomb was never actually hidden at the police station.
Matteson Deputy Police Chief Michael Jones failed to return calls for comment.
With his three cases combined, Walton is being held in lieu of $370,000 bond.
