Chicago Man Accused of Radio Shack Armed Robbery

A Chicago man charged in a standoff with Oak Lawn police is now accused of robbing the Palos Heights Radio Shack at gunpoint.

Reginald Taylor, 47, of the 7100 block of South Harvard, is charged with armed robbery. He is accused of drawing a gun on employees on Wednesday inside the Harlem Avenue electronics store. The Cook County States Attorney’s Office approved the charge on Friday.

Authorities in Frankfort are also looking at Taylor for a Nov. 1 armed robbery of the Radio Shack location on La Grange Road.

Two Palos Heights Radio Shack employees who were in the store when it was robbed picked Taylor out of a lineup on Thursday, Palos Heights police said.

Taylor waited for customers to leave the Palos Heights store before locking the store's front door, police said. He pulled out a handgun, demanded money and fled with the cash. Taylor then made his way to Oak Lawn where he walked into a second Radio Shack location, police said. An employee there recognized him and 911 was called. A police chase ended in Taylor's arrest after a standoff.

Taylor is on parole for an earlier armed robbery from Rockford, said Palos Heights police Sgt. Tim Holder. Charges from a potential parole violation are likely.

Also on Thursday, Oak Lawn police announced a charge of felony possession of a firearm against Taylor for his part in a standoff with police in that city shortly after the robbery. He is accused of barricading himself in a stairway armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

A Frankfort Radio Shack employee also selected him from Thursday's lineup at the Oak Lawn Police Department.

Charges in the Frankfort robbery are expected to be filed Tuesday, police said.

Taylor is due in bond court at 9 a.m. Saturday inside the Cook County Criminal Courts Building.
