Bomb Threat Clears Kmart Store

By Nick Swedberg (Editor)

Super Kmart on Harlem Avenue at 163rd Street has been evacuated because of a bomb threat, police said.

The store is expected to be closed for hours while members of the Cook County bomb squad investigate.

Police were not able to say whether there was a specific threat directed at the store or an employee. Kmart staff had called police to alert them about the threat.

About 20 store employees were cleared Thursday afternoon to an area near the edge of the stores parking lot.

Tinley Park police are blocking entrances leading to the store.
