Robert L. Wilson was arrested on charges of theft and possession.

A Chicago man faces felony charges after a traffic stop in Frankfort revealed controlled substances in his car and allegedly led to a confession regarding a residential jewelry theft.

Robert L. Wilson, 26, of the 4200 block of W. 81st Street in Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and theft of more than $500 at 3:08 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the intersection of Bankview Drive and Colorado Avenue.

A Frankfort police officer investigating a residential jewelry theft on Locust Street developed a suspect matching Wilson’s description.

Later that day, the officer saw Wilson fail the yield while leaving a private driveway and performed a traffic stop.

When inspecting the vehicle, the officer discovered controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and multiple Ziploc bags containing cannabis residue, according to the Frankfort Police Department.

Wilson was arrested and during further investigation, he allegedly admitted to committing the Locust Street theft.

He was transported to Will County Jail.
