The Neighbor from Hell

I am a nurse.  I work very hard and I am a compassionate individual.  I take care of patients that are going through some of the worst imaginable illnesses and try and make their life a little easier.  I need to ask why I deserve a neighbor that is immature and vindictive?  Long story short..(too late)...this neighbor has been shooting off illegal fireworks almost every weekend this summer.  I am not talking about little firecrackers or the pretty light shows where everyone goes " Oooooo....Ahhhhhh..."  NO....I am talking about those big bombs that shake my house.  Over and over and over.  My dog goes nuts and shakes constantly.  He runs around the house having "accidents".  This is even after he is sedated.  So, I started calling the Will County Sheriff on the night of July 7th.  I figured that was far enough past July 4th for any fireworks.  I gave the dispatcher my name and address and asked to make a complaint. She asked where the house was that was blowing off the fireworks. I told her it was right in back of me.  So, the officer went straight there instead of coming to my house.  The officer managed to "not see" the makeshift rocket launcher that was in their backyard.  He must have asked about fireworks because I heard the group say "Not this house".  And the officer left. The bombs continued. At about 2am....they moved the rocket launcher in the front of my house and blew the stuff up right in front of my bedroom window....I assume in retaliation.  In mid August, I was again fed up.  I called the Will County Sheriff again after recording many of the "rockets" being sent up.  I asked that he come to my house first this time.  He did not.  He went straight to the neighbor's backyard...again managed to "not see" the rocket launcher...talked for a few minutes and left.  The bombs continued.  The night of September 1, the noise was out of control.  I called the Will County Sheriff's office for the 3rd time. I insisted that the officer come to my house.  I was prepared with video and the Will County ordinance that covers this illegal activity which is available to everyone on the internet.  It states that the Sheriff can confiscate the illegal material and destroy it.  It also states that the offender shall be fined not less than $150 and not more than $1000.  My next-door neighbor also called the Sheriff because she couldn't take it anymore either.  She has 2 dogs. We waited for the officer on my driveway.  As he pulled up, the bombs were going off in full force behind my house.  I thought this would be enough for him to understand the situation...but he walked up the driveway and said "So, what's going on?"  I was a little stunned at first...but then I gathered my thoughts and said, "OH...just all those noisy bombs going off."  He wasn't too impressed.  He stated that they usually don't do much about this.  He said "It's like rolling through a stop sign or not wearing your seatbelt.  And I don't give tickets for not wearing your seatbelt. Again, I was a little stunned...but then said....if someone doesn't wear their seatbelt...it really doesn't affect me.  All this ridiculous noise does affect me, my family, my neighbors and our pets.  I then read to him what the Will County Law said about this illegal activity.  He said it was still at the officer's discretion.  I, of course, was stunned again.  But, I recovered enough to say...if you aren't going to go there and follow through with this...then tell me right now who I talk to next.  He said he would go....but he said that if there was a fence, he couldn't go in the backyard.  I told him there was not fence.  I didn't want to start arguing with him about the fact that the law didn't say anything about "confiscate unless there is a fence."  I also told him that there would be retaliation from this neighbor and I want that on record ahead of time.  The officer said.."Well...you'll just have to call us back out here if something else happens". I told him I would.  He also said he couldn't fine the offender....but he would issue a ticket.  He said I should receive a copy in the mail of the court date. (I will be there, trust me). He went over there and I went back in my house.  No further bombs that night...so he might have confiscated the fireworks...I don't know.  At 6am the next morning is when we found all the broken eggs on my daughter's car which was in our driveway. My other daughter's car was parked in the street and wasn't touched.  They probably weren't sure if it belonged to my family so they only egged the one in our driveway.  So, once again, I call the Sheriff's office and ask for an officer to come to my house.  It took about 30 minutes. (I'm sure they were getting sick of me by then....OH WELL....too bad!).  I then explained to this next officer everything that happened last night.  He said all he could do was write up a report that the car was egged and that we thought it was retaliation from the neighbors.  I said that was fine...as long as there was a record of this.  I then remembered to tell him something that I had forgotten to tell the officer the night before.  I have video of this neighbor allowing CHILDREN to set and blow off these bombs.  I said that should be considered a little more than rolling through a stop sign or not wearing your seatbelt. I said this was child endangerment.( I am a nurse...I have seen too many fireworks catastrophes).   He said "Not if they are properly supervised".  I admit, I was again stunned.  I recovered to ask...."Let me understand this....it is perfectly OK to allow children to engage in dangerous and illegal activities as long as they are properly supervised?!"  He stopped talking and called the dispatcher and got a report number.  I think he could tell that I was fuming at this point.  He wrote the report number down and said I could get a copy and left.  So, back to my questions....why does this immature jerk who is breaking the law, endangering children and disburbing the peace continuously get a pass from the Will County Sheriff?  Can anyone answer that???  The name attached to this post is not my real name.  I don't want my brakes tampered with or my dog killed.  Thanks for listening.....
