Accomplished Pharmacist, Business Owner Dies from Breast Cancer

Longtime Frankfort resident and prominent Lincoln-Way business owner Dr. Beverly Talluto died at the age of 71 from breast cancer on July 6, reports the Sun-Times Media.

Talluto was most notable as the familiar face behind the Frankfort Square Pharmacy from the late 70s—when she originally opened it—until she sold it in the 80s, after a car accident rendered her unable to work. Years later, she opened up Wolf Road Pharmacy in Mokena, where she worked until 1994.

“She was a good person who was concerned about the community,” former colleague and Frankfort resident Mary Kenny told the Sun-Times Media. “She was always willing to talk to you if you needed more information than you got from your doctor. She responded to any kind of need she saw in the community. It was never the same without her.”

Beyond her local efforts, Talluto had a rich, accomplished history in pharmacology. She spent two decades as a pharmaceutical educator at an array of colleges and universities among several states. Her degrees include a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a master's in health science from Governors State University.

Talluto is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe, and her kids Charmaine, Jackson, Joe and Marc.
