Snow Doesn’t Stop Attack Volleyball Team from Championship

During a snowstorm in the early morning hours of February 1, players from the Orland Park –based Attack Volleyball Club’s 15 Black team made the drive to northwest Indiana for a South Side Power Series Tournament. Six matches later, the team was the undefeated champion of the 15s division, which include 12 teams from Illinois and Indiana.

“It was a long, snowy ride to Hobart,” said Coach Jason Sabo, “but the girls played great as a team and played their roles well. Emily Wicks anchored and led the offense the entire tournament as our starting setter. Our back row defense was also very strong the entire day.”

Deonna Carey, Christine Malito, and Sarah Rojas led the back row defense, while Dani Amador led the team in kills and Sammy Udarbe racked up the most aces.

“I’m very proud of the girls. Some of them played in positions they don’t normally play. Their hard work and focus paid off,” said Sabo.
