Frankfort School District 157-C staff and family members took the “Polar Plunge” to raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois. The “Frankfort Cheetahs” team was comprised of Sarah McGrath, Curt Saindon, Char Ruhbeck, Roger Clousing, Cari Clousing and Ricky Innocenti.
Team members dressed in different colored bright fluorescent shirts as they braved the ice cold Manteno Lake. The District 157-C team was successful in raising $4,010 in donations for Special Olympics Illinois during the Polar Plunge event.
District 157-C also sponsors a Special Olympics student track team. The “Frankfort Cheetahs” team has begun practicing for the Region Four Special Olympics track meet which will be held on Saturday May 3rd at Thornwood High School. Any individuals qualifying will then be eligible to compete at the Special Olympics State Track Meet at Illinois State University the weekend of June 13-15.
