District 157-C Kindergarten Here We Come!

The Grand Prairie Elementary School staff welcomes parents and their incoming 2014 kindergarteners to their “Kindergarten, Here We Come!” events this spring.  The events will be held on May 1 and May 8 at 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the school at 10480 West Nebraska Street in Frankfort.

At each event, the new kindergartners will have some fun with nursery rhymes and activities with a group of staff members while one of the school’s specialists hosts a mini-seminar on the posted parent topic.  The goal is to help orient the children to staff and the building while giving parents information about how to help support their child at home as they get ready to send them off to school in August.  There is no need to pre-register, however, school administrators ask that parents sign in when they come.

Parents may also register their kindergartener for school at the District Office during regular hours on any day.  On May 1, the school is offering special evening registration hours from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  At 5:30 p.m., Principal Eileen Nelson and Assistant Principal Sharon Nepote will repeat the PowerPoint presentation given at the April 3 Kindergarten Round Up.  This will be followed by the “Kindergarten Here We Come” program at 6:15 p.m.

Questions regarding the kindergarten registration process should be directed to the district office at 815-469-5922.
