Chelsea student is Principal for the Day

Chelsea Intermediate School fifth grade student Annabelle Kiely had big shoes to fill when she served as “Principal for the Day” recently.  Her parents were the high bidders for this opportunity at the District 157-C Education Foundation annual fundraising auction.

Annabelle started her busy day by conducting the Pledge of Allegiance for the student body over the public address system.  She then took attendance with the secretarial staff, emailed the school staff and reviewed the day’s agenda with actual Principal, Kristin Simpkins, and Assistant Principal, Dan Prorok.

She also spent time visiting Grand Prairie Elementary and Hickory Creek Middle School, as well as touring the District Administrative Office where she received her official staff identification badge.  The highlight of the day was a trip for lunch at her choice of restaurant, Culver’s, with Mrs. Simpkins and Mr. Prorok.

Annabelle also worked on a Kohl’s school grant application with Mr. Prorok, visited classrooms, had her photo taken for the newspaper, returned emails with Mrs. Simpkins and met with physical education teachers to plan for the school’s upcoming Field Days.  She ended her day by ordering supplies and assignment notebooks with Chelsea Secretary, Mrs. Sally Puzon.
