Hickory Creek sixth graders make "Sweet Connections"

Students bring valentines to Frankfort Terrace Nursing Center

Sixth grade students at Hickory Creek Middle School made Valentine’s Day sweet for the residents of Frankfort Terrace Nursing Center with a gift of 120 Valentine goodie bags.

Leading up to Valentine’s Day, the students participated in a "Sweet Connections" Advisory project, with each sixth grade Advisory class creating twelve goodie bags.  The students made note card kits, creating a set of four cards for each resident and candy boxes filled with treats.  The bags also contained word search books, decks of playing cards, hand lotion, tissues, chap stick, pens, pencils, applesauce cups, pudding cups, fruit cups, candies, crackers and snack cakes, which were donated by the students, parents, and faculty.

Coordinated by teacher Renee’ Grady with participation by all of the sixth grade teachers and students, the annual project supports the District 157-C Character Counts character education program.
