Hickory Creek Middle School students send candy to troops

Hickory Creek donate candy to troops

Eighth grade students at Hickory Creek Middle School again participated in Operation Gratitude’s candy buy back this year.  After Halloween, the students brought in candy for the program that was piloted at the school last year.

The students brought in 4,838 pieces of candy that was dropped off to Manhattan Dental and Monee Dental, two dental practices in the area that were coordinating the effort.  The candy will be combined with their other donations and sent to troops through the Operation Gratitude program.

Hickory Creek Middle School Principal Dr. Kevin Suchinski was pleased with the students’ efforts to support the troops, saying it was inspiring seeing them “pay it forward.”  The effort supports the Frankfort School District 157-C Character Counts character education program.
