Frankfort students again took aim at Guinness World Record in Sport Stacking

Guinness World Record for World's Largest Sport Stacking Event

On November 15, students at Frankfort’s Grand Prairie Elementary and Chelsea Intermediate School participated in the annual World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) STACK UP.  They were attempting to break the Guinness World Records® for the “World’s Largest Sport Stacking Event.”   The 2012 goal was 450,000 sport stackers at multiple locations in one day.

Along with trying to break the World Record this year as they stacked cups, Chelsea students also participated in “Stack the Stock” by bringing in canned goods to stack for the Frankfort Township Food Pantry.  Parents were also invited to participate in the event with their children.

Grand Prairie students also participated by stacking in various ways all day long in both gyms.

Sport stacking takes place in schools and youth organizations worldwide. It is appealing to teachers and students because it’s easy to learn but very challenging to master. Benefits include improved reaction time, hand-eye coordination, concentration and focus. The WSSA is the governing body for sport stacking and promotes stack meets, leagues and tournaments around the world. More information about the program is at http://www.worldsportstackingassociation.org
