Creative Arts Showcase

Creative student artwork needed!

The Frankfort School District 157-C Family School Partnership (FSP) Organization will host its free annual district-wide Creative Arts Showcase.  The event will be held on Friday, March 8, 5:00 to 7:30 PM, at Grand Prairie Elementary School, 10480 West Nebraska Street in Frankfort.

The showcase will feature original art from students at Grand Prairie Elementary, Chelsea Intermediate and Hickory Creek Middle Schools in categories of visual arts, literature and performing art.  The event will feature the student art displays, hands-on art activities, professional artist demonstrations and performances. There will also be special attractions of a spin art machine, Sweet Dreams cake decorating, live jazz with Ben Clark, Down Home Guitars, pottery with Melissa Monroe and recycled art.

New this year, students can become part of a book project showcasing their “Frankfort Favorites.” Students are to artistically interpret through drawing, painting, sculpting, photographing, etc a favorite feature of Frankfort.  At the Showcase, all book entries will be displayed as a collection, grouped by school.  Guests will receive a ballot when they arrive and have the opportunity to vote on their favorite.  After the Showcase, each entry will be  photographed or scanned for inclusion in the book.  Approximately 20 People’s Choice winners will be featured in the main section of the book, however, all entries printed in the book.  The book will be for sale after publishing for $10 each and the art will also be featured on FSP facebook pages.
