State Sen. Christine Radogno was elected by her peers to her third term as Illinois Senate Republican Leader on Wednesday, Nov. 28. The Lemont Republican was chosen by her colleagues in the 98th General Assembly. When first elected to the post in 2008, Radogno became the first female legislator in state history elected as Caucus leader.
“It is an honor to be chosen to lead the Senate Republican Caucus,” Radogno said. “I thank the constituents of the 41st District for giving me the privilege to represent them in the State Capitol and the opportunity to serve as Leader.
“Illinois faces many challenges, but by working together, our Caucus has had some success in reining in government spending, fighting to improve our jobs climate and ethical, transparent government,” Radogno said.
The 98th General Assembly will begin on January 9, 2013.
Radogno has served in the State Senate in 1997. Her district encompasses parts of Cook, DuPage and Will counties. She and her husband, Nunzio, live in Lemont and are the parents of three adult children and one grandson.
