The Friends of the Frankfort Library are always trying to find new ways not only to help grow our library but raise awareness for those in need in the community. Pat Ricker, member of the Board of Directors and also assists in running the Knitting & crocheting group has come up with a grand idea to marry these values together.
Warm Up America has been around since 1992 gathering “squares” of knitted or crocheted pieces and joining them together to make afghans, hats, and more to donate the items around the country. Pieces that could very well be used in the Chicagoland area for those in need.
If you are anything like me, I can be ambitious but all thumbs when tackling something new in the knitting realm. Never fear, you can come out with your needles or yarn and meet with the group at the Frankfort Library every first Tuesday of the month at 7pm. There will be plenty of people on hand to help you figure out the basics to get you on your way to making 7 x 9 inch sections that will be passed on to Warm Up America to join with knitters nationwide.
Pat has arranged for information packets to be located in the library for pick up, you may come out for the Group Meetings or feel free to check us out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/FriendsoftheFrankfortLibrary for more information also.
While we are looking to expand our “Friend” base, please stop in and find a little more about us and all the Friends of the Frankfort Library does for the patrons of the library as well as others in the community. It only takes $15 a year to become a Friend and it helps make possibilities become reality. We can all get by with a little help from our Friends.
