For the Ultimate Act of Kindness, We Salute You!

It only takes a minute to thanks someone devoting their lives to ours.

One of the most amazing, selfless and ultimate acts of kindness would be making the commitment to serve our country. There is nothing that we can do or say to make this transition easier for the soldiers or their families. I am fortunate to know some pretty incredible people that have served and are currently serving our country. Raising kids as a single parent for sometimes more than one tour, leaving fiancés behind left to plan a wedding and hoping that there will be one, young men having to take that journey while missing nieces and nephews first steps, words and new experiences. They all have a story to tell, are we willing to listen?  I know it would have been possible to send something to those people that are directly or indirectly in my life but what about those soldiers that don’t have as much support from loved ones? I have decided to adopt a soldier.

We will be able to send cards, packages and e-mails to someone that is in need of a little cheering up. This small act of kindness hardly matches up to the sacrifices that they are enduring to make this country a safer place but it’s something. Reading so many posts and watching the news with the recent loss of yet another sad celebrity opens your eyes to where our loyalty lies. While I don’t deny the fact that their lives touch millions and they have family that will suffer forever, keep in our hearts those that aren’t as well known for their screen time or singing talents.

Thank you to all the troops, past, present and future that fight for our freedom.
