From Summit Hill Junior High School:

Summit Hill Junior High School’s seventh grade girls’ basketball team capped off a perfect season by winning their Regional Championship.

The Spartans, who were also recently crowned the Des Plaines Valley Conference Champions, entered the tournament with a 21-0 record.

Throughout the season, the team was led by top scorers Sydney Nekola, Kaley Sheehan and Katarina Savic.  With their combined scoring ability, the Spartan team averaged 37 points per game.

The Spartans undefeated record helped them secure the top seed in the regional tournament, where they played Hickory Creek Middle School in their opening round.

The Spartans beat Hickory Creek 41-18 and advanced to the championship game where they played host Colin Powell Middle School. Both teams in the final match were undefeated, but it was the Spartans who prevailed, beating Colin Powell 41-14.
