Frankfort Gears Up For Christmas Season With Tree Lighting

The tree lighting kicks off the Christmas season in Frankfort.

The annual Village of Frankfort tree lighting ceremony will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 PM on Breidert Green.

This year's event will start at 6:30 p.m., a half hour earlier than usual, in order to accommodate youngsters visiting Santa.

Each year, downtown Breidert Green comes alive with thousands of lights for this old-fashioned tree lighting event.

“Bring the family to downtown Frankfort and experience our tree lighting event complete with refreshments and enjoy the holiday music of the Hickory Creek Middle School Chorus," said Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland. "In addition, volunteers from the Lincoln Way Interact Club will serve refreshments.  Of course, as usual, Santa will be arriving to greet the youngsters.”

Holland pointed out that the tree lighting "kicks off a weekend of holiday cheer in Frankfort."
