Money Smart Week 2013 at the Frankfort Public Library District

Tax season may be over, but managing your personal finances is not. Join us for a week of financial and consumer education seminars to keep you on track.

Money Smart Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Each year we host a variety of seminars to help you plan for your child's college years, get the best deal on your phone and utilities, keep you and your family's identity safe and secure, and more. All of our seminars are free and open to residents in Frankfort and our neighboring communities. If your between 25-55 years old, you're an accumulator. Gerard Huguelet from Ameriprise Financial Services will talk specifically to this target audience about financial strategies during the accumulation phase. During this complimentary seminar, you’ll learn:

Don't Pay the College Sticker Price! Thursday, April 25, 7-8pm

For many families, college tuition is the largest expense they will ever face. To make matters worse, the escalating pace of tuition inflation has become downright terrifying. Fortunately, you don't have to tackle this daunting challenge alone. The college financial aid system, which includes scholarships, grants, student loans and tax‐saving opportunities, was designed to help relieve this expensive burden. This beneficial system provides relief for parents of all income levels - not just low or moderate income families.

Joe Orsolini, a Certified Financial Planner, will introduce the three key areas of opportunity to reduce the overall cost of a college Education: strategies to maximize need-based financial aid eligibility, target the right colleges for merit-based financial aid, and exploit tax-saving opportunities.

Bring your bill and a CUB expert will sit down with you one on one, explain all the confusing charges, and give you money-saving tips.
