Intro to Yoga

New to yoga? This class will teach you the basics of yoga and will help you:• increase strength and flexibility• improve balance• reduce stress and lower blood pressure• improve your mood to enhance your quality of life• feel and look youngerEach session focuses on:• safe and healthy body alignment• fundamental seated, standing and reclining yoga poses• breath awareness• relaxation techniques• simple, short forms of meditationThis is a supportive environment for anyone with a desire to improve their physical and mental health. Everyone will work within their own ability. You'll leave the class with the knowledge and confidence you need to continue onto our regular drop-in classes. Mats and other props are available for use free at the studio. FRIDAYS, 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Three different session to choose from: September 6 - October 4, 2013, October 11 - November 8, 2013, November 15 - December 13, 2013. Fee: $80 if paid one week prior to the first day of the session; $96 paid thereafter.

THERESE CARLSON, RN, 500 CYT, is a registered nurse and yoga teacher. She is the mother of three young adults. Therese completed her 500 Hour Teacher Training at Prairie Yoga and is certified through Global Yoga Center in Chicago for Prenatal Yoga. She teaches yoga in the community and works as a nurse at Almost Home Kids. Therese uses her 33 years of nursing experience and her love of yoga to nurture, strengthen and guide new yoga students in the fundamentals of yoga.
