FRANKFORT PARK DISTRICT – Upcoming Events; Letters to Santa, Christmas Coloring Contest, Christmas Story Hour, 4th Annual Spring Kids Garage Sale, Heartland Blood Drive, and Winter on the Green.

LETTERS TO SANTA                               Sponsored by: BMO HARRIS

Starting November 26, Santa’s mailbox will be displayed at the Founders Community Center.  Santa will personally write to each and every child who writes him a letter, provided that all letters are received by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, December 12.  Santa can only send letters to children who include the following: child’s full name, address, city, zip code and of course, their wish list!  Parents, please complete checklist when sending the letter.  Checklists will be available at the main office or on the park district website. Please address letters to: Santa Claus, 25 Candy Cane Lane, North Pole (c/o Frankfort Park District, 140 Oak Street, Frankfort, IL 60423). 

Due Date: December 12 by 5:00 pm

CHRISTMAS COLORING CONTEST                Sponsored by: BMO HARRIS

Enter the Frankfort Park District’s new Christmas Coloring Contest for a chance to win prizes.  Starting November 26, you can pick up or download a coloring sheet at the Founders Community Center or at www.frankfortparks.org.  Return your finished masterpiece back to the Park District with your name and phone number on the back and you will be entered into our contest.  All entries will be displayed at the Founders Community Center for everyone to enjoy.  Winners will be announced on December 18.

CHRISTMAS STORY HOUR

Tuesday, December 18, 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Founders Community Center dress in your pajamas and slippers and join the Frankfort Park District for an evening of holiday fun.  Santa’s elves are up to mischief and will sprinkle candy canes all over the Founders Community Center for a candy cane hunt.  After the hunt, join Santa’s elves for a reading of some holiday favorites.  While listening to the stories, enjoy a bedtime snack of cookies and milk.  Registration Deadline Date: December 14  Age: All  Fee: $5/NR $8 per person (children only)

4th ANNUAL SPRING KIDS GARAGE SALE

Saturday, January 19, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Founders Community Center.  Christmas has come and gone and so have all your children’s old toys.  They probably have toys, a lot of toys!  Heaps and piles of toys they’ve forgotten they had or lost interest in or just don’t use anymore because they out grew them or have new ones to play with.  If this sounds familiar then maybe you should sign your kids up for our 4th annual Spring Kids Garage Sale to help you and your kids clean out their closets and toy rooms!  This is a KID’S ONLY garage sale!  Parents please don’t be tempted to set your own stuff out.  Children are not to be left unattended; an adult should be with them at all times!  Registration Deadline: January 15  Ages: 5 – 14 (sellers)  Fee: $15 per space (includes table & advertising)

HEARTLAND BLOOD DRIVE

On Saturday, January 19, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, the Heartland’s mobile coach will be in the Founders Community Center parking lot, the Frankfort Park District is hosting a blood drive with Heartland Blood Centers.  January is National Blood Drive Month…Did you know that 4.5 million Americans lives have been saved each year by blood transfusions?  Now is your chance to help!  To schedule your appointment, please call the park district office at (815) 469-9400 or email cdebella@frankfortparks.org.  Walk-up donors are welcome too!  Ages: 17 years old & up  Fee: FREE

WINTER ON THE GREEN

Sunday, January 20, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm the Winter Carnival will be held at Breidert Green.  Why wait until the summer to enjoy an outdoor carnival? Dance away the cold with Frosty the Snowman, DJ Don Gray, Rainbow the Clown and your friends at the Winter Carnival.  Enjoy a winter afternoon with family and friends while dancing to music, playing carnival games, walking around in snow shoes and getting that balloon animal made just for you.  Stay warm by the bonfire with your hot chocolate and cookies!  This will make your day complete!  Fee: FREE
