Student artwork to be displayed at JJC and Vogt Visual Arts Center

Exhibits will be Nov. 13-20 and Nov. 26-Dec. 7 in the Laura Sprague Art Gallery in Building "J" at JJC and Nov. 1-23 at the Vogt Visual Arts Center in Tinley Park.

A collection of artwork by Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North high school students will be on display this month at two community exhibits.

Joliet Junior College will display a variety of photographs, pencil drawings, scratchboards and acrylic paintings Nov. 13-20 and Nov. 26-Dec. 7 in the Laura Sprague Art Gallery in Building “J” while the Vogt Visual Arts Center in Tinley Park will display a collection of drawings, jewelry, photography, graphic design, acrylic paintings and ceramics in its studio Nov. 1-23.

“The art department staff is always excited for opportunities to be able to showcase student artwork through the involvement in art shows,” said Phil Labriola, the art department chair at Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North high schools.

“We appreciate JJC and the Vogt Visual Arts Center for giving our students this opportunity to exhibit their artwork and display their remarkable talent and hard work,” he added.

Every year, Joliet Junior College invites area high schools to submit up to five pieces of student artwork per school to display in its High School Art Exhibit. The Vogt Visual Arts Center invites high schools in the Lincoln-Way/Tinley Park area to submit up to 30 pieces each.

Among those selected from Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way North to have artwork displayed at Joliet Junior College this year are Rachel Murff, Rachel Pavlik, Luke Shepard, Dayna Grybas, Zach Hoekstra, Gina Sipka, Alyssa Sparacino, Haley Collins and Amanda Jonker.

Those displaying artwork at the Vogt Visual Arts Center are: Jeremy Bieser, Kelsey Kasbaum, Collette Theodour, Madeline Rittgers, Rachel Murff, Rachel Pavlik, Tim Smith, Emily Bumba, Brad Yorkman, Kelsey Radomski, Tracy Danet, Jeff O’Keeffe, Justas Varpucanskis, Alyssa Ruvoli, Kate Garcia, Emma Eaton Annelise Crumb, Mikayla Jaber, Julie Ruvoli, Dayna Grybas, Haley Collins, Amanda Jonker, Alyssa Sparacino, Shayvonna Albrecht, Cindy Rozak, Mike Wells, Milos Cvjetkovic, Morgan Boman, John Kane, Elise Lampley, Anna Horton, Kayla Wolfe, Cynthia Runia, Melisa Wortel, Arianna Porter, Randi Bertolani, Megan Darcy, Zach Hoekstra, Kayla Kovacic, Glenn Rife, Mickey Bush, Sarah McPhillips and Becca Morris.

Their pieces will remain on display at the Vogt Visual Arts Center at 17420 67th Court, Tinley Park, through Nov. 23. A reception is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Nov. 9 at the arts center.

JJC will host a similar reception at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Fine Arts Theatre in Building “K.”
